The New Illustrated Rulebook is Now Available

The first few hundred copies of Quin have made it out into the world, and we've been loving hearing from all the first generation players.  So big thanks to everyone out there playing the game, spreading the word and building this community.  Quin wouldn't be here without you.

The one critique we've received consistently is about the presentation of the rules.  While we thought psychic communion was a safe bet, it has become clear at this point that a more traditional full-length Rulebook is necessary.  Everyone learns in their own way, and we totally respect that.  So we're here to announce that the new Rulebook is available as of today.

This FREE UPGRADE is available as a PDF Download at the top of the page HERE, and will be included in all shipments going forward.  We're shipping it to all early adopters, Amazon customers and Kickstarter Backers, so have no fear, even if you already have the game you will get the new Rulebook at no charge, rounding out your Quin set in proper style.

The files are with our manufacturer now, and we expect to have the books in hand to start shipping in just a few weeks.  So we'll be re-checking addresses via email. Keep an eye on your inbox or shoot us a line proactively if your address has changed.  And if you know anyone who got the game via another channel, either Amazon or a retail store, have them reach out to let us know so we can be sure they are included.  Amazon does not provide us with that info.

While it's clear at this point that such a book should have been included from the start, it's also true that what we've designed this summer is an evolution that would not have existed quite like this any other way.  With Quick Start options and gameplay Tips suggested by players and reviewers, Quin will now get eager gamers up to speed fast.

Drawing on everything we've learned from the first wave of fan feedback, the new Rulebook focuses on Arcade Mode, with Third Eye rules noted in separate boxes.  Too many players tried to jump into the deep end on day one.  We can see that was probably our fault.  So consider this official notice that Arcade Mode is awesome, and really is the best way to start playing.  Then, when you're ready, the book has everything you'll need to level up to Third Eye.  And if you don't, that's cool too.  Arcade has everything you'll need for endless gaming.

For those who have been playing successfully all along, kudos on your persistence and keen eye for the details.  The rules have not changed.  But if you have any nagging questions in the back of your mind, there's a very good chance that these 46 pages of full color 3D illustrations, diagrams and descriptions will fit the bill.  Read the first 15 pages, then use the rest as a visual reference, that's fine.  With this much space to breathe, most of the rules are represented in more than one way, for any type of gamer.

At 8" x 8" the Quin Rulebook will replace the 5 Step Start Guide in all future shipments, including everything you need to learn the game, from Game Setup to Board diagrams to a full 2-page spread dedicated to each piece, to Contact and Support as it should be.  QR Codes will direct new players straight to Gameplay Videos and Tutorials.

As we move on to next steps, translations will be made available digitally in all of our supported languages.

Last note for this update:  If you're one of our EU or CA backers that is still waiting to get the game, we haven't forgotten you.  As this part of the project wraps up, we're refocusing on distribution, especially international fulfillment.  Amazon US is now offering Quin as an import to most countries, at the listing HERE. So if that is a middle ground that interests you, just let us know and we'll arrange for it.  Otherwise direct Amazon EU and CA shipments are still on our radar, and though we don't yet have exact numbers or dates, we will hopefully be announcing them soon.

We've got a cadre of pro reviewers waiting for this Rulebook to hit before they publish their videos, so we're eager to see those review scores reflecting the deep gameplay of Quin going forward.  Hopefully we can get a few frustrated early adopters to raise those scores with a proper set of instructions.  We don't have to please everyone, but everyone should have a fair chance to learn how to play.

Check out the link, and let us know what you think of it all.  HERE it is so you don't have to scroll.  With dedicated sections for Turn Actions, a complete Guide to Flashes, and better, more evolved descriptions of everything from Totems to Void Gravity, we're psyched to be putting this in your hands at last.
