Flash! and Quin appears at last.
Our favorite little alien baby is finally leaving the nest. If it took a little longer than most, we can only hope it spent that time growing big and strong on all the stars it was eating.
That's right, Quin is shipping. That's right, Quin is about to swallow the sun. We've been playing this thing every day since getting the boxes in last Friday, and we're more confident foster parents than ever. This game is anything but ordinary, and in the best ways.
As habitual KS Backers and Tabletop Collectors, we know exactly how often games put on a good show for the campaign, only to be clunky or unwieldy in practice. Pretty, but only after you spend an hour setting them up and everyone has moved on to watch a movie instead . . . Quin comes ready. Set up in a few minutes, tear down in less. Learn the basics in an hour or so, and then just play. Quin is complex but intuitive. Robust and not easily broken. Flexible, with training modes included. And those strategic moments . . . like Nicholas Leeman with Good Luck High Five said back in 2020 when we first launched the Kickstarter,
"The strategic moments feel amazing."
If you find it daunting at first, it's probably just because you've never piloted an interstellar shuttle. No big deal. There's a first time for everything, Light Seeker. Take the wheel, flip the switches, talk to Hal 9000. Those asteroids are thousands of miles apart, and they ain't gonna hurt ya.
Peruse the 5 Step Start Guide, then once-over the Arcade Quin Key. Then play.
Take a stroll with Vision Mode first, and odds are after thirty minutes or so you'll both be ready to play your first magnetic game of Quin. If you want, take the guided tour over at the Quin Youtube. Most of the assets there are focused on Third Eye play, and there's plenty of quality to get you in deep.
The new Quin Website is launching in just a few days now, and will include translated rulesets. But everything you need is in the box. So review those cards, watch a video or two, pick a mode and then just get into it. It'll be second nature in no time.
If you have any real sticking points, feel free to reach out to info@quinthegame.com or to the Quin Official FB community any time. We love watching you puzzle out the controls while dodging comets, but you're not in this starship alone. When you're looking to really get to the iron core of the thing, that's when you pull out that Strategy Guide.
The cargo bay is full of games! We're tossing them out the back as fast as we can, and watching them parachute down through the stratosphere is awesome fun. Yours should be inbound very soon. So put out the trampoline, cover it in tinfoil, and give these babies a soft landing.
In all seriousness though, if you haven't finalized your order via email yet, your order isn't . . . finalized. Check your spam, or let us know, and let's work to get everything lined up and ready, so everyone gets their games. First in, first out (or some reasonable approximation thereof, anyway).
We'll leave you with a few fan-provided pics. Quin is hitting tables - on Earth - right this moment, and here's the proof. Send us your snapshots as the game arrives, and maybe we'll feature you in the next post.
Cheers, Light Seekers. See you in the game!
