Welcome to the Deluxe 1st Edition
Hey everyone, thanks so much for hanging in there while we worked our way through the latest trouble-shooting phase. No doubt some things came up that nobody anticipated, and it took some iterations to get to the other side. Lesson learned about promises and delivery timelines.
We'll be honest, this Update is mostly for your eyes. So open wide for a full serving of prototype hype! Wish we could share a feel-me texturization or something, but that's going to have to wait until somebody invents the proper file type. It's hard to fully convey what Gameland Manufacturing has got at this point, but we trust these'll come pretty close. Props to Taeleen for some sweet captures we can all drool over.
A big thanks to our primary contact in the East: everyone give a hand for Josie! Among a number of others, she's one of the great people behind the scenes that aren't officially Arch & Gravity. Pretty cool, really, the detail required to produce a product like this, at the level we're aiming for. There's no going solo, and while the two of us at A+G are certainly the roots on the tree of Quin, the trunk is full of energy, thick with talent and ideas including everyone along the path of promotion, production, and the players themselves. Thanks for being one of those, even if you're in the group that hasn't yet touched an active board.
About that board, we’re now working with a material developed at the factory that is basically an iron cloth. This gives it a certain flexibility, which was a must to prevent long-term board warp, but retains the rigidity and magnetic action needed for a playing surface you'll gladly be taking for granted soon. The prototype has shown impressive durability, and just feels awesome in your hands. There is a trade off, in that the game is heavier than we had hoped, but we hope you'll love the results. Let's make this thing worth the time, eh?
That's a good shot of the near-production set in full, just opened. Among the few changes for the final run will be a nice plastic box insert that Josie's team just finished up last night. This should help everything fit snug for long term storage, and ensure components aren't damaged in shipping.
If you'd like to upgrade from the Paperless to the full Deluxe, shoot us a line at info@QuintheGame.com and we'll get your order changed pronto. The economics of this first run aren't quite favoring the environmental idea of a Paperless option like we had hoped (though we still intend to finish it for those who prefer), meaning just that it isn't going to save as much material as it would in future, larger runs, and we won't be shaming anyone for preferring to receive all the components pictured here after all. The idea is good, but environmental execution will realistically be better on that one later in the game's lifetime.
We're also looking into rule translations. We hope this will be ready well before you receive your shipment, but for a little longer we're open for suggestion if anyone in the community wants a shot at tackling their particular language or region! There are plenty of companies happy to do it of course, but we think this might be a great chance for a few lucky individuals to put their own mark on the final product. Just email us at info@QuintheGame.com and let us know what qualifies you to get it done.
Yep, the magnetic action is premo. And we've upgraded the Towers, doing away with the stickers entirely in favor of directly printing the icons on each individual Face. Every set, every piece, will be properly oriented, centered and undamaged from the moment you open the box. Thanks to those backers who proposed this, it turned out to be a much better direction.
So, wrapping up just a few final details, we'll be confirming production totals and setting those gears in motion. This baby's about to pop, and I know we're all ready! As we confirm final weight and dimensions, fulfillment details will begin to finalize, and, well, we'll be as happy as anyone when the Pledge Manager goes live. Let's all cross our fingers for shipping options to stay reasonable in this crazy new export climate, but we're keeping the option open of subsidizing your shipping where possible, to whatever extent we can. We're starting something here that is much more important than any profit margin on the first run, and we know it. Our goal is nothing less than getting the promised product into everyone's hands around the world at a reasonable cost, to put the Quin community on the map of strategy gaming with its feet on the ground from day one. If you know you're in a country that is being affected by higher rates recently, reach out and let's talk about it. If you've been here for long, you know we're not just tossing this thing out there and hoping for the best. Quin, especially what evolved to become 3rd Eye Competitive Mode, is thoroughly play-tested and ready for not just family game nights but serious Tournament Play, and the potential for this community is huge.
That's pretty well where we stand at this moment. Thanks again for patience, though we've well learned that a reasonable development outline needs to include more give than was originally in our ETA, no matter what various partners may believe at any one time. There are a remarkably large number of details in this little box, and we hope you get a bit of the same dopamine we do at the sight of them all lining up in 3 dimensions. With any luck, the next time you hear from us really will include that Gamefound link, and we'll all be playing soon.
Subscribe to the Instagram, Facebook, FB Group and Email List, follow the game on Tabletopia and Board Game Geek, to be sure and stay on top of everything Quin. Share the LINKS! Share the Videos! For a while longer, if you have friends or family that haven't yet ordered theirs, we can add to the first run at the same Kickstarter price. We love this community, and this journey won't soon be forgotten!
